The Dead Sea float is universally loved by children of all ages — the buoyancy is hilarious and the mud application even more so. Jerash offers a living history lesson: the ancient chariot racing demonstrations held in the hippodrome twice daily are genuinely spectacular entertainment for children and adults alike. Practical tips for families
Drive times between Jordan's major sites are longer than maps suggest — Amman to Petra is typically 3 hours. Plan accordingly with tablet-charged, snacks packed, and overnight stays at key points rather than long driving days. Private transfers (available through Al Maqsad) are considerably more comfortable than public transport with young children.
Summer (June–August) is very hot, especially at Petra and Wadi Rum. Young children find it difficult in midday heat above 38°C. Spring and autumn are far more comfortable. If you must travel in summer, plan all outdoor activities before 10am and after 5pm and build in long midday rests.
